Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

Scotland is an exciting land with many amazing attractions and events. It can sometimes be overlooked by visitors drawn in by Ireland or England. However, Scotland has its own fair share of excitement. When Scotland comes to mind people think of kilts, bagpipes and Vikings. From a historical standpoint, these are valid views.

Almost each month there are celebrations around Scotland that highlight the beauty and history. In January, there is a Vikin- themed fire festival called Up Helly Aa. It’s a spectacular sight of 1,000 people carrying flame torches. It happens on the last Tuesday in January each year.

In Edinburgh, the heart of Scotland, there is a fantastic 11-day celebration. It includes traditional folk music, film and storytelling. Anyone who wants to truly experience Scotland should attend. It’s a great way to learn about history and have fun while doing it. The festival takes place at the end of April and beginning of May.

In June there are multiple exciting events. There is the Royal Highland Show

in late June, located outside Edinburgh. It’s one of the most iconic events in Scotland showcasing the famous farm life. Visitors will see popular livestock and be able to taste home-grown food.

Another festival in late June is the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival. This festival is a fun-filled day out on the water. There are large historic boats as well as more modern boats. It takes place in Portsoy village on the Banffshire coast.
