Train fans, listen up. If you love trains and — more specifically — historic trains, this is one experience worth traveling for, before it’s gone.

In Orbisonia, Pennsylvania, East Broad Top Railroad offers historic railroad trips and tours through the end of the year only. The 150-year-old railroad is Smithsonian-recognized as one of the best and most well-preserved examples of an 1800s narrow-gauge railway (which, for the uninitiated, means the railway is smaller than your average railroad). The railroad, under the watchful eye of the nonprofit East Broad Top Foundation, reopened to visitors in May and now works on further restoring its existing six, narrow-gauge steam locomotives.

The railway experience includes a one-hour train ride in a vintage caboose, passenger car or open-air car. The rail line is more than 30 miles long, though the currently available train rides cover a nine-mile round-trip route, starting at a historic roundhouse and traveling to Colgate Grove, Pennsylvania, and back. The railroad is adjacent to the Rockhill Trolley Museum for further explorations of historic American transportation.
Tickets for the railway experience start at $18 for children and $20 for adults. Reservations and advance ticket purchases are recommended.

Insta FeedAre You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?
Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
