While most pride celebrations for the year have already happened, Chattanooga pulls out its rainbow flags for its annual pride celebration taking place this weekend in honor of LGBTQIA+ History Month. Tennessee’s Scenic City will feature an array of festivities with many LGBTQIA+-owned restaurants and businesses opening their doors to visitors from near and far.
The Dwell Hotel, recognized as a World Rainbow Hotel and signaling to the LGBTQIA+ community that it offers a welcoming environment, is one of Chattanooga’s many hotels welcoming attendees.
Chattanooga Pride highlights include
- Leading up to the Pride Parade on Oct. 8, Tennessee Valley Pride will host several events from a themed brunch to a sign-making party and more. Other events can be found on Instagram at @chattpride.
- A free screening of Strange World will take place at Miller Park with various vendors and food trucks. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lounge chairs for the movie.
- Sunset Pride Paddle: Hosted by LGBTQIA+-owned Outshine Adventures, this leisurely paced paddleboard experience takes place along the Tennessee River. All equipment is provided along with basic paddling instructions.
- Haunted Houses of Pride Ball: Paying homage to the ballroom and vogueing culture that originated in Harlem during the 1960’s, this festive gathering offers tiered prices for those who want to attend.
