The CLASSON Intelligent Bike Helmet has literally been years in the making. Brooklyness, a New York-based company that designed rentable scooters, developed the idea back in 2016. After numerous setbacks, the helmet finally began shipment late last year.

The CLASSON helmet is able to detect cars before they hit you. It uses cameras on the front and back to sense when vehicles are approaching and covers your blind spots. When it detects a threat, a light flashes under the visor to let you know something is coming. The helmet also boasts intuitive turn signals. Cyclists can use their hands to indicate an upcoming turn and the cameras will trigger the signal lights on the back of the helmet to let cars behind you know you’re turning. An integrated accelerometer is included that detects when you slow down and trigger the brake lights.

As an added bonus, the helmet also captures your ride and lets you share it online with your family and friends. The CLASSON Intelligent Bike Helmet is set to retail for $299. Shipments for initial backers has already begun. Check out the fundraising campaign for updates on when you can purchase one of your own.
