Ever wanted to be a real-life wizard making potions you can then drink? At The Cauldron, you can do just that. The Cauldron is a technology-led entertainment studio immersing guests in a magical world where food, beverage and science come together for an unforgettable time. What once began as a single outlet in London now takes the world by storm with locations in New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia and Edinburgh.

My experience at the East London location was nothing short of unique and memorable. The experience begins at the door, where you’re donned in black robes and given a wand to use throughout the night. The front hall seems unassuming and nothing special, but as you venture downstairs, the illusion lifts. Long tables, old-fashioned and intimate lighting, knick-knack-adorned walls and glowing orbs of different colors greet you.
Your wand leads you to choose your first complimentary, pre-made concoction of the night … but it’s served in an unusual way. At the back of this magical space is a wall with four fantastical creatures, each representing a drink. At the East London location, you can choose from a kraken, unicorn, werewolf or a horned, deer-like creature. The magic begins when you place your cup beneath one of the animals and tap your wand on the creature, which fills your cup with a delicious cocktail. During my visit, I selected the unicorn and enjoyed a crisp and refreshing gin cocktail with notes of grapefruit and rosemary.

You then take your seat and begin the potion-making process yourself. Selecting two potions from a set menu, all the ingredients and equipment soon arrives to your table. Next? Make magic, of course! From smoking cauldrons to fiery goblets to sparkling glasses, each potion results in a tasty cocktail for you and friends to enjoy. (Don’t worry, these cocktails are anything but watered down).
Tickets are required at all locations.
Not interested in alcoholic beverages? The Cauldron also offers Wizard Afternoon Tea experiences, at select locations. At New York City’s The Cauldron, use working magic wands to brew teas and taste ethereal treats.
