Dano’s on Seneca Review

Restaurant

On a recent trip to New York’s Finger Lakes region, my friends and I dined at Dano’s on Seneca. The restaurant serves Viennese dishes alongside local wines.

We arrived a little early for our dinner reservation, but, luckily, they were able to accommodate us and we were seated immediately. Dano’s offers a stunning view of Seneca Lake. We were happily seated outside so we could enjoy the picturesque view and sunset.

Shortly after being seated, our waitress discussed the menu and took our drink order. My friend and I ordered the house wine and the rest of the group chose drinks from the cocktail menu.

Our group of five decided to split several dishes, so we could experience more of the menu items. To start, we ordered a bread basket and three spreads (artichoke lemon and two of the house special spreads). We also split a charcuterie board and smoked fish mousse. Our last appetizer was the sausage sampler, which came with four sausages, mustard and curry sauce. All of the appetizers were hits as we cleaned our plates. I enjoyed the spreads and the weissewurst sausage with the various mustards the most.

We also chose to split a few entrées: wiener schnitzel, goulash and smoked pork shank. For sides, we ordered mashed potatoes, spätzle, braised sauerkraut with bacon and braised red cabbage. The smoked pork shank was tough and less lean than expected. We each tasted a small bite, but left most on the plate. We enjoyed all of the other main dishes and sides.

Wanting to end our meal on a sweet note, we each ordered an individual dessert. I opted for the bread pudding topped with caramel sauce and homemade whipped cream.

The service, food and atmosphere make Dano’s a must-see on your trip to the Finger Lakes.
