If you’ve ever had a layover of multiple hours at an airport in the middle of nowhere, you may have wondered if any nearby hotels are open for a quick nap or much-needed shower. Luckily for those curious about this commodity, hotels are prepping their rooms for one-day stays as a means to target business travelers or others who long for hotel amenities that are a step up from naps on airport benches.

Day stays at hotels are on the rise as travelers who face hours-long layovers seek a place to relax and refresh that is outside the dingy airport walls. Soon, such travelers will be able to check in at the nearest hotel and take advantage of a fresh shower, a nap and maybe even a dip in the hotel pool.

Lower prices are available for day stays so guests won’t need to pay for an entire night since they’re not going to use all the amenities featured in a full stay. If the hotel is equipped with a gym and/or spa, the opportunities to relax and unwind between flights are even more luxurious.

Hotels are latching onto this trend as a way to increase revenue for rooms that remain empty during the day. It may be ideal to make the most of your long layover by sightseeing in your in-between city, but if this is not an option, seeking out a day stay at a nearby hotel may be the next best thing.
