TrunkMonkey means keen cyclists no longer need to buy car-specific bike racks to transport their two-wheeled steed.
If an inflatable bike rack sounds unlikely, it’s because TrunkMonkey is the first of its kind. Its unique design means it can fit on any car, and then rolls up like a sleeping mat for easy storage either underneath the saddle of your bike or in the trunk of your car.
The product is essentially a large inflatable bag which straps to the back of any car and can hold any bike. Just inflate the bag using the built-in pump that connects to the 12V outlet on your car, or using a manual pump.
In addition to offering an easy, discrete solution the TrunkMonkey also helps prevent damage to your bike thanks to its cradle design. There are no metal clamps or ratcheting straps, just a series of soft straps that hold your bike in place without causing cosmetic damage.
You might not want to replace your traditional bike rack with a TrunkMonkey if you are planning a long trip over bumpy terrain, but for shorter trips on asphalt roads, it offers a perfectly practical solution. After a Kickstarter campaign which raised $71,906, TrunkMonkey opened an online store for people who missed the deadline to become backers. Get yours for $110.
