At first blush, the mission of Miir seems a bit lofty: “Designing products that empower our customers to get out and live active, connected lives, while empowering others to rise above poverty, is our company’s tireless pursuit.” But in examining their products, this goal is one more companies should aspire to.
Miir produces bicycles, growlers and water bottles, all geared toward outdoor activities. Their 800-milliliter slate water bottles are beautifully designed, sleek and lovely to hold, with a stainless steel body that is BPA-free and dishwasher safe. Though it can’t be put in the freezer or hold hot liquids, it’s a pretty great all-around water bottle, and the color choices are pleasing, too.
The lid has a thumb hole that makes for easier carrying, though it advertises itself as a “one-twist lid” and that isn’t quite accurate. Still, even if it takes a couple of twists to seal or release, this is a great bottle. It fits in cup holders and is sturdy in case dropped on concrete or a rocky backcountry trail.
Even better, each bottle purchased provides one person in need with clean water for a year. And it takes this to a more personal level by giving the customer a bracelet with a registration code for tracking the location of the person you’ve helped. If you need an excuse to buy a water bottle, you can’t go wrong with Miir.
