Podcasts span many different genres, categories, subject matters and tone. With so many, it might seem tough to find the quality ones for the content you crave.

Video games are one subject that takes this to the extreme. It seems like every major outlet has several podcasts focusing on different genres, platforms or fan bases and new podcasts always pop up from people who really just want their opinion out in the wild.

Starting with the big names, IGN puts out several great podcasts every week. The shows are usually presented as a video and an audio podcast. The network has shows for every big game platform, including Nintendo Voice Chat, Beyond! and Unlocked.

For a more generalized look at the industry, Giant Bombcast is a great choice for fans of comedy as well as videogames. The Giant Bombast is a product of Giant Bomb and is generally a three-plus-hour dive into the week’s news and trends. There’s also a team on the East Coast, whose show goes by Giant Beastcast. These shows both do a good job of informing listeners and staying entertained.

If you’re looking for something lighthearted and from a newer source, Waypoint Radio is a show put out by Vice’s videogame arm, Waypoint. The hosts aren’t afraid to go off course, and topics typically range from video game-specific to video game-tangential topics.

Podcasts are great for video games because they allow listeners to hear several opinions on any given topic, from reviews and opinions to news and other editorializing.
