The London neighborhood of Bloomsbury comes alive in October with a celebration of arts, culture and science.
Since its inception in 2006, the Bloomsbury Festival invited attendees to explore more than 100 events in local institutions, businesses and cultural organizations. While it acts to shine a spotlight on this central London district, the main aim of the festival is to bring people together and inspire them.
Thanks to a wide spectrum of events, the festival sees scientists meeting dancers and academics learning from musicians. This year the theme is language, with events inspired by language in all of its forms taking over galleries, parks and laboratories in the area.
This year the Bloomsbury Festival will run from Oct. 19–23, with promised street parties and cultural experiences galore.
If you are interested in seeing a festival which brings together creatives and academics, encouraging cross-pollination between different fields, the Bloomsbury Festival is a must see. Far removed from the usual music festival or high-brow academic events, the festival is accessible but inspiring.
Bloomsbury covers a relatively small area of central London, just north of New Oxford Street. After enjoying the festival, you will be perfectly placed to do some shopping in the West End or hop into some of the dive bars of Soho.
