Festival d’ete de Quebec is a spectacular, week-long international music festival in July showcasing more than 250 musicians and entertaining more than 1 million festivalgoers. This festival takes place all over Quebec City, giving visitors the chance to explore the area around them while listening to music of all genres.

I bought my ticket pass for the entire week for $89, which allowed me to enter and exit any venue whenever I wanted. For one low price, I was able to see big-name musicians such as The Foo Fighters, Beck, Lorde, Cyndi Lauper and Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls. Sneaking my way through the crowd, I was able to get close to the action on stage since there were no designated seats. The largest venue holds about 90,000 people.

Streets around the venues were closed off to traffic, making walking to each destination easy to navigate. As my sister and I hopped around from show to show, my parents decided to take it easy and enjoy dinner and drinks at the busy restaurants in the hub of the action. While enjoying their food, they were able to hear some of the live music from nearby venues.

Not everyone who attends this festival is there for the superstar musicians, though. If you opted to not buy a ticket, there were smaller free concerts, children’s activities, interactive art exhibits and a row of craft vendors to peruse. Not to mention the endless opportunities to sit back and people watch.

If you are looking for an exciting week in Quebec, this festival may just be for you.
