KLM Royal Dutch Airlines introduced a handy gadget for passengers traveling to Amsterdam: the KLM Care Tag. The smart audio luggage tag provides visitors with location information and travel tips for seeing Amsterdam.
Amsterdam is a popular tourist destination in Europe, attracting more than 1 million visitors in January 2017. The Care Tag provides extra assistance for a unique experience in the city.
The tag is enabled with an offline GPS module and speaker, to provide location-aware tips and suggestions while travelers explore the city. Once in the city, visitors can affix the tag to their bag or clothing to start receiving location-based tips. KLM’s drive to be a customer-centric airline led to the development of the device, bringing the service of the crew into Amsterdam. Tips include information about busy intersections for cyclists, where and how to lock your bike, when you should look out for pickpockets, where to taste local food for free, spots to see street art and where to rent a bike or boat.
The KLM Care Tag will be available starting in September. The gadget can be ordered free of charge by passengers traveling to Amsterdam. The first batch of tags will only be available in English. Additional tags in Chinese, German, Portuguese and Russian will roll out later in 2017.
