Products / Technology

One of Google’s latest apps is Google Lens, similar to Google Goggles but at a much higher level. Google Lens can identify an object and then show relevant search results. For example, you can aim your camera at a photo in a museum and Google Lens will find information about the photo. It’s like having a personal tour guide. Another cool feature is it can take in information as well and store it. Google Lens can scan a business card and then turn that information into a new contact instead of you manually typing everything.

The technology behind the app is incredible. It uses artificial neural networks (similar to those in your brain) to detect and identify objects.  This also allows the app to decode images and recreate them into text that can be read by the app. The app can do a search of the image and then provide you with whatever information it finds.

The app was officially released to Google Photos March 5, and released an iOS version of Lens March 15, but it has been a feature of Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL since October 2017. This app uses technology of the future and will help turn travel into a more educational experience. Download the app and give it a try.
