When it comes to vacations, sometimes a getaway to a distant location just isn’t feasible — time and money can limit your ability to travel. But don’t let these concerns ruin your holiday. Have a staycation and re-experience your own neck of the woods.
You can have a relaxing and rejuvenating time without jetting off to a tropical paradise. Start by setting a no-screens rule. While it is difficult to unplug, taking time away from computers and even cell phones will be a welcome change of pace. Avoid being pulled into the 24/7 work week by setting a vacation message on your work email and selectively accepting phone calls.
Vacation is about changing your routine, experiencing new things and indulging a little. Now is the perfect time to try that restaurant you’ve been eyeing, to try an ambitious new recipe or to catch up on your beach reading list. Invite friends on a day trip or have a relaxed dinner party.
With a little imagination, your backyard can be an oasis and your bathtub a luxury spa. The key to having a successful staycation is to fully commit to it. Get yourself in the vacation state of mind and you’re sure to “return” more rejuvenated.
