World Art Day is April 15 and if you happen to be in Santa Barbara around that time, you’ll have plenty of ways to celebrate.

Visit the city’s ARTS District and peruse local galleries and performing arts venues. Granada Theatre will also celebrate its 100th anniversary in April and the theater’s centennial festival weekend takes place directly preceding World Art Day, April 12–14. If you can make it, expect film screenings, an orchestral performance and a variety of shows featuring up-and-coming solo artists.
On April 14, also catch the Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show, a year-long arts event taking place every Sunday, with artisans offering their wares along Cabrillo Boulevard. More than 200 artists are celebrated, and the show is free to attend.

Lastly, you could easily spend the entirety of World Art Day at Santa Barbara Museum of Art, home to thousands of works dating back thousands of years. Of particular note is the museum’s Monet collection, the largest on the West Coast. Try to catch one of the museum’s free, docent-led gallery tours. While not available on Monday, the tours are available Tuesday–Thursday at 1 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
