Tips / Travel

Create a likely foolproof trip by following these steps to creating a travel itinerary:

  1. Decide where you would like to visit.
  2. Know the requirements for visiting that country and ensure you meet them all.
  3. Confirm all the details for your trip (passport information, visa requirement, flights, hotels, and length of stay).
  4. Create a travel pack list for your luggage and other personal items.
  5. Create a budget.
  6. Research things you’d live to see and do, or events you’d like to attend.
  7. Try to map your trip for the entirety of your time abroad/away and group them by location.
  8. If there are specific events you wish to attend, create a timeline around those events. Decide how much time you want to devote to each activity
  9. Schedule your days so you can visit the sites close to each other. (This way you’ll save travel time and money.)
  10. Decide how you will get to and from one location to the next (walking, bus, train, tram, taxi etc.). Google Maps can help you map your trip. TripIt can be used to create and keep track of your itinerary, and provides information on the modes of transportation available at your fingertips.
  11. Leave some flexible time in the schedule to get lost or for when you find something interesting to do that was not planned.
  12. Ensure all your plans fit within your budget, and calculate any anticipated food, ticket or transportation costs as far in advance as you can.
  13. Decide how you will get to and from the airport and make the necessary accommodations.
  14. Check that the plan is feasible and fool-proof.
  15. Most importantly, enjoy your trip!

If you’ve ever attempted to work on the go — not necessarily for a business trip, but just because your job offers the flexibility of remote working — you may have struggled with working from your hotel room.
