Snagging tickets to be in the live audience of one of your favorite shows isn’t that difficult with a little bit of planning ahead and patience.
Many daytime talk and late-night television shows rely on studio audiences and, believe it or not, you can often be a part of that studio audience for free. Some shows are harder to get into than others, but many are also based on ticket lotteries, meaning your chances of getting in rely mostly on luck and good timing.
If you’re looking to get into any of NBC’s popular shows — Saturday Night Live, The Voice, America’s Got Talent, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon — just visit the NBC website and you’ll find all of the details you need for all of their shows. You can often get tickets to additional tapings, such as Jimmy Fallon’s monologue rehearsal or the Saturday Night Live dress rehearsal, easier than you can for the actual show.
Many other networks use 1iota, an audience casting and fan engagement agency, to distribute free tickets for shows such as The View, LIVE with Kelly and Michael and ESPN Sports Nation. 1iota is also a great place to grab tickets for celebrity appearances and special network events.
One thing is for sure, though — there’s a good chance you’re going to have to be in either New York City or Los Angeles in order to attend most of these tapings, and it’s not always a good idea to make a special trip in the event you do win a ticket lottery or are moved off a waiting list. Many shows overbook in order to ensure a full audience. Those who show up later than the rest of the crowd are turned away. There are also strict dress codes, and those who don’t adhere are turned away as well.
