HX Expeditions recently announced a partnership with renowned Greelandic chef Inunnguaq Hegelund to develop a culinary program celebrating the rich and diverse flavors of Greenland. The program will include curated menus, collaborative recipes and culinary lectures, and it will launch May 24 aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen.

“We are incredibly proud to be working alongside Inunnguaq and other local chefs to bring the tastes of Greenland to our guests,” said Stefan Engl, VP of Hotel Operations, HX Expeditions. “This partnership is not just about food; it’s about sharing Greenland’s deep cultural heritage through its flavors. By sourcing ingredients locally and collaborating with community suppliers, we’re creating a truly authentic culinary experience that highlights the unique beauty of Greenland.”
From May to September, Hegelund and other esteemed Greelandic chefs will bring their own expertise and interpretations of local cuisine to HX guests. The chefs include:
- Laasi Biilmann (May 31–Aug. 15, aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen)
- Eli Nuka Johansson (Aug. 31–Sept. 27, aboard MS Fram)
- Jørgine Tobiassen (July 29–Aug. 11, aboard MS Spitsbergen)

“It’s an honor to collaborate with HX on this new culinary program and to share the flavors of Greenland with travelers from around the world. Greenlandic cuisine is deeply connected to nature, tradition, and sustainability, and this initiative allows us to tell these stories through food. I’m excited to work with an incredible team of chefs and suppliers to bring this vision to life,” said Hegelund.
HX commits to source 30 percent of its food products from local and regional suppliers, including meat, seafood, fish, microgreens and beer from Greenland. The expedition cruise line will also partner with Qajaq Brewery to serve its locally crafted beers.
