A regular fishing pole will be too long to use, but a hand line will do just fine. Short ice fishing poles are also available. Hook a minnow onto the end of your line, drop it down into the water and you’re in business.

Don’t forget to bundle up before you head out. There is no shelter out there, unless you bring your own. A thermos of hot chocolate and a small grill will also go a long way toward making the most of the afternoon.
