Curious what destinations are trending for proposals this year?
Nieuwe Casino analyzed Instagram hashtags to see which destinations are the most picturesque proposal locations worldwide. To determine the most popular backdrop for couples’ proposals, the study looked at Instagram hashtags with the location and keywords following destinations such as “proposal” and “engagement.”
The analysis also looked at every European country and the three most populated cities in each U.S. state, a variety of UNESCO World Heritage sites, and TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice “Best of the Best” Destinations.
What places reign supreme for 2025 proposals?
Paris, France
According to Instagram hashtags, Paris (surprise, surprise) is the most picturesque proposal destination in the world. The destination, known as the City of Love, has a reputation for its romantic atmosphere, and has been featured in more than 78,000 engagement posts.
Bali, Indonesia
Thanks to its natural beauty, pristine beaches and green forests, Bali comes in second for popular proposal destinations. The study found more than 72,000 Instagram posts associated with proposals.
Colorado, United States
Coming in third with 68,000 engagement posts is Colorado. Colorado takes third place worldwide and first place in the United States. The destination’s scenic landscapes provide the ideal backdrop for a dreamy proposal.
New York, United States
New York ranks fourth on this list with more than 36,000 related posts. From atop the Empire State Building, in Times Square or in Central Park, the city has plenty of locations to pop the question.
Florida, United States
Ranking fifth with more than 32,000 Instagram posts is Florida. Whether you drop to your knee at Walt Disney World, one of the many beaches or somewhere else, you can’t go wrong with where to propose.
