For a great hotel right in the middle of the shopping and dining on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, look no further than the InterContinental Chicago. Locatedright on Michigan Avenue, the hotel is within walking distance of not only a wide array of shopping options, but also Water Tower Place and Navy Pier.
The rooms themselves are in one of two towers, either the Grand Tower or the Historic Tower, and significant remodeling has been completed in the Grand Tower within the last few years to update much of the older décor. The fresh new designs incorporate a lot of gorgeous olive and lime greens, with red, blue and brown accents. Even the simple standard rooms are of a large and comfortable size, and the Grand Tower king rooms also include a stylish sofa for lounging.
The staff is helpful and courteous as well, and even the smallest of issues are always resolved in a quick and apologetic manner. The large, four-story lobby, always impeccably decorated at Christmas, leads into their wine bar, Eno, and Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse, as well as a Starbucks.
The InterContinental Chicago’s spa and health club boasts a beautiful and historic junior Olympic swimming pool built in 1929. Although the nearby Chicago attractions will beckon, you’ll find it hard to leave a hotel with so much to offer.
