Make no mistake, Bangkok is the spot to be for gay men and women in Southeast Asia. It’s host to a lengthy list of clubs, bars, festivals and other events for the rainbow brigade. There’s something for everyone here.

The Bangkok Gay Festival has been active since 1999 and is attended by thousands of spectators each year. The festival is known for its over-the-top costumes and flamboyant floats. The parade happens during the fall around the end of October and brings in tourists from all over the globe.
Throughout the rest of the year, the major gay hub of Bangkok is in Silom. The neighborhood is divided into two separate gay-friendly areas, Soi 2 and Soi 4. For those looking to party, Soi 2 offers up some of the best dance clubs including Expresso and the notorious DJ Station. The more laid-back crowd will probably feel at home in Soi 4 where you can have a relaxing drink with friends at Balcony Bar.

Be warned, a lot of places in Bangkok cater to gay men into “friskier” tastes, so don’t be surprised if you’re in a club or sauna and the lights suddenly go out. You might want to do your research before choosing where you’re going to frequent for the night.
