Trends / Food & Drink

The town of Lincoln celebrates its sausage heritage at this annual festival. As people become increasingly concerned about the provenance of their food, there is a growing trend for appreciation of all things culinary. The number of food festivals is simply astounding, and public interest has led to the creation of specific events for different types of food.

On Oct. 22, the historic British market town of Lincoln plays host to a festival which celebrates all things sausage. The event will take place on the grounds of Lincoln Castle, which provides a spectacular backdrop to a showcase of the finest sausages.

The county of Lincolnshire is famous for its sausages, and the Lincoln Sausage Festival shows visitors why. Chefs will offer cooking demonstrations and a chance to buy sausages for yourself, while there will be music and entertainment throughout the day.

Lincoln is 2.5 hours from London by train, and is a great place for a quick break. The pretty town is packed with history and offers a great opportunity to take in some of British life away from the capital.

In addition to the castle, the cathedral is a must see. History buffs will also be impressed by the chance to see an original copy of the Magna Carta, signed in the year 1215.

The Lincoln Sausage Festival is the perfect excuse to visit an underappreciated part of the British Isles. It is free to attend but it’s worth booking train tickets in advance to get the best prices.
