Jupiter, Fla., is home to one of the most important sea turtle nesting beaches in the world, so it’s no wonder there are many programs dedicated to conserving and protecting these creatures. Loggerhead Sea Turtle Rescue is a non-profit sea turtle hospital located directly across from the beach that helps promote conservation of sea turtle’s ocean ecosystems.
It is open seven days a week to the public to come visit the turtles that are healing in its facility. You can make a donation to its efforts by “adopting” a turtle. For a certain amount of your choice you will ensure a portion of the food, care and medicine is taken care of. You may visit your turtle as it heals, and be notified when it’s due for release.
Releasing a turtle is a big deal, and many onlookers come to watch the exciting process. If a large enough amount is donated to your turtle you may be able to track them once he or she is released.
