Study Abroad

Lexie Palasciano checks in weekly from her study abroad semester in London; catch up with her every Friday on Trazee Travel.

As the weeks of induction have winded down and scheduled dance life has begun, days are filled with less river cruises and markets and more hours of studio work and training. Even though more training may mean more soreness, my week still had plenty of time to explore even more of what London has to offer.

One of the best things about Greenwich is the multitude of ways there are to get into central London. From the DLR to the double-decker bus to the tube, it is always a toss up as to which public transport to take in a day. Wanting a bit of scenery and adventure though, I hopped on the ferry at Greenwich Pier and headed toward Embankment to peruse the shopping district around Covent Gardens and the array of shops down Long Acre. Blocks of shops selling everything from French desserts to vintage sweaters to gourmet dog biscuits kept my attention for hours and soon guided me to the perfect café to have afternoon tea. Three tiers of English finger foods including cucumber sandwiches, scones and eclairs, made afternoon tea everything I’ve always imagined and more.

After a long week of pliés and grandé battlements, I finished the week exploring allGreenwich has to offer. When I stumbled upon Sticks n Sushi I had had no idea it would be the best sushi I’ve ever eaten (and that’s saying a lot since I’m from the Gulf). While any night in Greenwich is gauranteed adventure and fun, a night out for dinner at Sticks with edamame, an Ebi Panko roll and a Shojito Ginger cocktail, followed by a late night star gaze at the Prime Meridian made this week even more out of this world than usual.

Watch the video below to get a little sneak peak at the beautiful city I get to now call home.

Where Can You Find the Mai Tai Mile?

Stay at Kona Village on the Big Island of Hawai’i and you may think your experience consists solely of private, residential-style luxury and perhaps the occasional fresh pineapple, but Rosewood Resort has something else a little special. More specifically, Kona Village has its very own Mai Tai Mile, where guests can find four unique and different takes on the Mai Tai. Each distinct drink is inspired by its setting and comes with its own story.
