Tips / Other

If you’re from the United States and wish to vote but plan to be traveling when Election Day rolls around in November, it’s not to late to get your early vote in or request an absentee ballot. That said, you are running out of time and if you want to make your vote count, it’s time to get to work. Clearly rules governing absentee voting will vary from state to state, if you move quick your vote will count in a presidential election that might be very, very close and come down to the residents of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Vote.org provides a number of resources to make sure you’re registered and will help you get an absentee ballot in all 50 states.

If you know where you might be traveling out of the country come November and will find yourself in or close to a capital city, it’s a good idea to contact the U.S. Embassy ahead of your trip. Many U.S. Embassies worldwide put together “absentee voting nights” and often save you the time and money involved in mailing your ballot.
