With new advances in technology, virtual reality is being used in more ways than just entertainment. It may be a slow integration, but virtual reality is being implemented into other facets of our day-to-day life, and working its way into marketing and advertising.

Virtual reality is a new and interesting way to showcase products and experiences, and marketers around the globe are taking notice and using the technology to give the consumer a better buying experience.

An interesting example of virtual reality invading the marketing industry is test drives. Recently, Volvo created a virtual reality experience for its new XC90 SUV, and the reaction of customers when taking the test drive was overwhelmingly positive. By transporting the consumer into the product they want to test, it allows a better feel for the car and whether or not it is a good investment.

Yet another intriguing example of virtual reality marketing is from boot manufacturing company Merrell. The marketing team had a great idea to create a marketing campaign where customers would take a virtual hike in a pair of boots, allowing the consumer to get an even better feel for how the boots would perform.

It may not be for a few more years, but expect virtual reality to become a force to be reckoned with in the marketing and advertising industries. With technology at the forefront of popular culture, it is no wonder this new form of marketing has turned heads. Improving the experience is what it is all about and virtual reality allows the user to get right into the action.
