Meet Maven: A New Car-Sharing App

Modern-day travelers have the luxury of choosing how to get around, whether it be from town to town for daytrips or simply from the airport to their hotels. The handful of car-sharing services that exist for such purposes is about to face new competition from a company called Maven, a mobile app taking car-sharing up a luxurious notch.

When members sign up for Maven’s service, they are members for life with no membership fees. Once users have downloaded the app, they enter their location and then can view and reserve vehicles from the app. The key technology is embedded in the app so members have access to dozens of vehicle types, sizes and styles with just a few swipes on a smartphone.

All of Maven’s cars are equipped with OnStar roadside assistance, 4G WiFi capabilities, media-synching services to connect to your Apple or Android device and SiriusXM radio. Drivers also have access to a gas card that can be used to refuel the car once the service has been completed.

Renting small electric cars, compact cars and sedans starts at $8 per hour, while the price for an SUV rental is $14 per hour. Maven users can rent vehicles by the hour or by the day for their convenience. Currently, Maven is available in 11 cities such as New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Orlando and San Francisco.
