Mountain Chalet Aspen is an affordable option for travelers wanting to stay near the Colorado ski destination on a budget. The hotel is a bit dated, but offers comfortable accommodations, friendly faces and a charming appeal just a stone’s throw away from the foot of Aspen Mountain and the Silver Queen Gondola.

The hotel boasts a wide range of amenities. The solar-heated outdoor pool is open year-round and offers an excellent reprieve from the crisp, Colorado air in the winter. There’s also a hot tub and steam room open late into the evening, as well as a game room that features a pool table and piano. The lobby houses TVs guests are welcome to use if they want to mingle.

While the underground parking is limited, they do offer permits for guests who have to park on the street, a nice perk. The rooms themselves are tastefully decorated though a bit retro. A few spots were worn here and there, but overall it’s in great condition for such an old building. The room styles vary depending on how much you want to spend, with a bunk bed option for anyone who doesn’t mind rooming with strangers.

The one negative of the hotel is they seem to require a minimum stay of one week during the high season, though I was told they could work with guests who call ahead. Overall, I found Mountain Chalet Aspen a welcoming, comfy and reasonably priced hotel I would happily visit again.
