There is much more to a college campus than academic buildings, dorms and roaming students. Many campuses serve as sets for memorable films. Consider taking a trip to one of these colleges for an education in movie tourism.
Columbia University
New York City’s Ivy League campus served as the backdrop for dozens of films thanks to its city campus appearance. Popular movies filmed on campus include Ghostbusters, Anger Management, Marathon Man, Manhattan and Spider-Man.
Duke University
Perhaps best known for its top-notch NCAA record, Duke University played a role in some iconic films including The Handmaid’s Tale, Brainstorm and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Princeton University
One of the oldest universities in the United States has a prominent place in pop culture. However, many films and television shows set in Princeton are not actually filmed there, with I.Q. and A Beautiful Mind as two exceptions.
University of California, Los Angeles
UCLA is known for famous alums and as the set for many popular movies including The Nutty Professor, Legally Blonde and Live Free or Die Hard.
University of Southern California
Filming movies and television shows is so popular at USC, the university has a campus filming office. You’ll recognize the campus from films like The Graduate, Forrest Gump, Love and Basketball and The Social Network.
