As television shows like The Biggest Loser and Extreme Weight Loss promote the benefits of diet and exercise, many viewers are left sitting on their couch dreaming of a similar experience. Cue the Biggest Loser Resort, which launched in 2009 in Malibu, California. Since then, three additional locations have opened in Florida, New York and Illinois.
The resort’s mission is to provide attendees with an experience focused on fitness, nutrition, education, relaxation and camaraderie. The wellness destination offers a results-oriented health and wellness program with a team of personal coaches and wellness counselors. The average stay at the Biggest Loser Resort is 14 days, but many participants stay longer.
Although fitness resorts have been around for decades, The Biggest Loser Resort gained popularity due to the show’s success. A typical day is based on a balance of exercise, calorie-controlled cuisine and an enlightening educational series. Attendees gain insight on getting achievable results in everyday life. There is also a spa on site that can be utilized for pampering, relaxation and wellness treatments.
Whether guests are attending the resort to lose substantial weight, enjoy an active fitness vacation, learn about healthy eating or all of the above, the Biggest Loser Resorts offer an educational and rewarding experience for those ready to make a lifestyle change.
