With a long bus ride in your future, you’ve probably taken care of the essentials like snacks and water. But don’t forget these other items to survive.

Baby/Face wipes

Spending hours on a bus can leave you feeling pretty grimy. Use baby wipes to freshen up during the ride or before arriving at your final destination. If you’re wiping your face and have sensitive skin, use a face-specific version.

Toilet paper

Chances are high you’ll have to use the restroom at least once during your journey, and there’s no worse time to figure out the bathroom has no paper. Take your own to avoid any awkward bathroom situations.

Multiple forms of entertainment

Especially when most of your entertainment options run on a battery, make sure you have a few different options to mix and match. If you have the space, bring along a few magazines or a paperback book.

Something warm

Buses, especially at night, can become super cold as drivers blast air conditioning. Bring a sweatshirt or something warm to layer on when temperatures drop more than you’d like.

Headphones or earplugs

Maybe it’s your seatmate snoring or the bus playing loud movies at all hours in languages you don’t understand, but something to block out noise is invaluable.
