Planning a trip to Virginia this year? The state welcomes some brand-new things to see and do in the months ahead, and you may want to plan travel accordingly.

Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront in downtown Richmond opens this summer. The 7,500-capacity amphitheater has an impressive lineup to kick its inaugural season off, with performers on the schedule including Boyz II Men, Dave Matthews Band, Simple Plan and Weird Al Yankovic.

In Virginia Beach, the new Atlantic Park will feature a surf park for year-round surfing in an urban environment near the actual ocean. An indoor-outdoor entertainment venue christened The Dome will also be part of the development when it opens in spring. Otherwise, the park’s surroundings will include a bustling plaza for community events, as well as shopping and dining options.

Looking for new events to attend? The closest winery to Washington, D.C., The Winery at Bull Run, hosts the inaugural Bull Run Wine Festival, May 31–June 1, featuring, of course, plenty of wine, food, vendors and more. Later in the year, the first CrowdStrike Veterans Race of Remembrance Powered by AWS will be held at Virginia International Raceway, Nov. 6–9, with events including a CAN/AM TCR/GT4 competition, a single make series and a 12-hour endurance main-event race.
