The “city that never sleeps” can be exhausting and after a few days hopping the subway and working your way through any of the five boroughs you may need a break from the exhaustion of the senses you’ve surely enjoyed.

Don’t dread being forced to spend a morning or afternoon indoors, rather head to the New York Public Library Rose Reading Room, recently reopened.

In 2014, a few ceiling tiles fell from the ceiling of the iconic reading room leading to a two-week closure that lasted two years and took $12 million to renovate.

There was not a dime wasted in the reworking of the best indoor venue for sitting down and reading for a few hours. It is the Sistine Chapel of display spaces for 52,000 books. It wows each and every sense of the bookworm.

Even an illiterate or someone who hasn’t read for pleasure in years can appreciate the timeless nature of this beautiful room which reopened in the first week of October.

If New York has you down, overwhelmed or simply hemmed in by pending thunderstorms, the Rose Reading Room is back to sooth your discomfort.
