After a long day on the trails, it’s important to give your feet the best shot at recovery. This is particularly important on multiday hikes, and brands such as OOFOS developed dedicated recovery footwear designed to keep your feet in good shape. One of the upcoming models from the company is the OOMG High, and it contains nothing but foam.

Aesthetically similar to a black high-top slipper, the OOMG High are designed to help you recover by maintaining ultimate comfort for your feet. Slip into your recovery shoes when you get to camp for the night, and give your sore feet some much-needed respite from your hiking boots.

It all sounds sensible, but you might be wondering whether you need to invest in a pair of recovery shoes. Surely your comfy pair of old sneakers would suffice? Well, OOFOS says its shoes use cutting-edge technology to make recovery even faster. This includes an elastic band over the top of the shoe, which exerts a slight pressure on the foot and encourages blood flow.

Then, there is the company’s OOfoam, which reduces the impact on your feet by absorbing 37 percent more impact force than the foam used in traditional footwear. OOFOS uses the foam in a number of products for both men and women, including a line of flip-flops.

The OOMg High looks like a good choice for those who will be in colder areas, with sturdy construction and a high top protecting your feet from the elements. If you’ve got the extra space in your pack, it might be worth trying out some recovery shoes on your next hiking trip.
