For anyone who ever dreamed of selling everything they own and hitting the road, this book is essential reading.
Even if you just fancy taking a shorter overland trip, the Overland Travel Guide is a useful read. It follows the journey of a family that sold their business, most of their stuff and shipped a truck to Uruguay to start a massive overland adventure.
After 100,000 miles and 29 countries they realized that they learned enough to be able to help other people who were considering embarking on a similar adventure. The Overland Travel Guide is their second book, full of answers to the questions everyone has before such a drastic change in lifestyle. There is even a section on how to convince your spouse it’s a good idea to sell everything and hit the road…
As much as a practical guide, the book also serves as an inspirational tome designed to make you realize this sort of lifestyle is possible, and even desirable. It might seem unlikely if you are sitting at the same office desk as you have been for years, but you too could uproot and buy a van to travel the world.
The book explains the long-term reality of the change, showing the different types of overland travelers, the vehicles they use and the realities of life on the road. It’s certainly not for everyone, but with tools such as the Overland Travel Guide you can work out if you are ready for life on the road.
