Trends / LGBTQIA+

In a country where the LGBTQ community suffers serious persecution, transgender singer Pabllo Vittar is challenging stereotypes.

After making a name for herself in Brazil singing on television shows, Vittar’s career recently reached a new level. Thanks to an appearance on one of the most famous parades at the Rio Carnival and collaborations with global stars such as Diplo, the singer reached a global audience for the first time.

These collaborations also drew attention to the abuse LGBTQ people suffer in Brazil, and Vittar has gladly taken up the mantle as an outspoken activist. She used her platform to campaign for better protections for members of the community, while winning over new fans and increasing visibility of transgender people.

Violence against LGBTQ people remains a serious problem in Brazil and in many other countries around the world, but Vittar shows a new side to transgender individuals beyond the stereotypes of sex workers and beauticians. As a result, she hopes to inspire other LGBTQ people they can do whatever they want to do, despite the discrimination they face.

Check out the song “Tudo Dia” to get an idea of how infectious Vittar’s music really is.
