River tubing on a hot summer day is the ideal, relaxing trip for those who love the outdoors, water and beer. Palace Outfitters , located in Mays Landing, New Jersey, perfected the floating experience for people of all ages to enjoy. Visitors can bring their own coolers packed with beverages.
My group and I arrived at the location on a hot Sunday afternoon in August without any reservations. The process of renting a tube was quick and easy. All we had to do was fill out a waiver and hand it to the attendants. Tubes were $25 per person to rent and $10 for a shared tube that fit our cooler. Everything was to be paid in cash with an ATM inside the restaurant for convenience. Once we paid, an attendant loaded us into a van and drove us and our tubes to the starting point, approximately two miles up the river.
The float was peaceful through the quiet and shaded meandering river. Since we went in August, the reddish cedar water was warmed up to a refreshing temperature from the summer sun. My group and I enjoyed the tunneling trees while sipping on Twisted Teas and craft beer. Every once in a while, we got stuck on fallen branches that poked out of the water, but it was nothing catastrophic. When we reached the end point, attendants helped us out of the water and handed back our car keys they kept safe behind the registration desk.
Palace Outfitters did a phenomenal job getting customers through registration and on their way to enjoy the adventure and I will be sure to visit them again next summer.
