Before embarking on your hiking trip, be sure you have the necessary equipment. You should research the terrain and weather conditions before hiking. Also, if you plan to follow a trail, figure out how long it will take you to complete and plan accordingly.

Clothing

Wearing the right hiking clothes will make your trip so much better. Hiking makes you hot and sweaty and certain materials will stick to the skin, causing chafing, and may make you uncomfortable during your hike. Check out this website to find proper hiking clothes. Also, be sure to bring a breathable rain jacket along for rainy conditions. No denim or cotton materials as they hold water instead of dying quickly.

Hat

A brimmed hat will help keep the sun out of your face and eyes. Sunglasses are a great addition to block even more sun.

Shoes

Wear sturdy shoes that can handle the terrain. Your boots should protect you from rocks and should have traction on both wet and dry surfaces. A great example of hiking boots is the Salomon Quest 4d 3 GTX.

First-Aid Kit

Have a mini first-aid kit on hand as accidents may happen.

Trekking Stick

Having a trekking stick while hiking helps keep your body stable through mud or snow.
