Tips / Safety

Whenever you travel to a city known for its tourism, it is important to take every precaution possible to protect yourself in unfamiliar environments. Here are some tips to protect your wallet when traveling in dense, unfamiliar cities.

One of the most common places for men to keep their wallets is in their back pocket. This might work when you are moving around the house or going about business locally, but, when traveling abroad, this is a good way to get your wallet taken. Combat this by making sure your wallet is always in a spot you can feel. If you place it in your front pocket, it is easier to keep tabs on.

Those traveling with bags should make an effort to place the bag in a way that will be difficult to tear off. You might think you look a little goofy carrying your bag in a way you don’t normally, but looking a little strange sure beats losing the entirety of the bag.

Aside from taking physical measures, make sure you keep aware of your surroundings at all times. You are more likely to be victimized if you are unaware of what is going on around you.

Finally, make sure to stay in well-lit and populated areas, especially in unfamiliar places. Getting caught alone in an unfriendly part of town is a great way to get robbed or mugged.
