Pure life, the motto of Pura Vida Bracelets, captures the essence of their entire brand and company. Pura Vida Bracelets is a La Jolla, Calif.-based company that sells hand-crafted bracelets online and through local boutique stores. The company partners with numerous charities, producing bracelets in a charity’s colors and donating a portion of the profits back to the charity.
The story of how the company came about started a few years back, when a college graduation trip to Costa Rica turned into a life-changing business venture for two Southern California friends. The trip allowed the two friends, Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman, to appreciate the simple lifestyle of the people they encountered. Their paths crossed with two bracelet peddlers who crafted colorful, handmade bracelets, which they felt captured the spirit of their journey. Thall and Goodman brought back to San Diego 400 bracelets, made in Costa Rica, and placed them in a local boutique — which sold out in a short period of time.
The simple, string bracelets symbolize more than an ordinary friendship bracelet, it’s a movement embodying simplicity. The feeling described from the bracelets created the company’s name, Pura Vida — which is pure life in Spanish. Choosing to embrace this laidback lifestyle allows for an appreciation of life’s treasures, celebration of good fortune and living life to its fullest.
Artisans in Costa Rica carefully handcraft each bracelet, offering endless color combinations and innovative styles. The bracelets are as unique as the person wearing it.
