Sometimes, where you rest your head at night is all that matters.
Hotels around the world are popping up as destinations themselves, offering themed experiences worth traveling to. Here’s a handful to add to your bucket list:
The Verb Hotel, Boston, Mass.
This 94-room hotel in the heart of Boston’s Fenway neighborhood is a modern classic. It first opened in 1959, designed to 1950s modernist ideals, and has since received a 21st-century face-lift with ‘50s flair. The hotel is all about style, each room decorated with pop art pictures and it’s very own typewriter.
Hotel Pelirocco, Brighton, England
This Brighton-based hotel is inspired by the best of rock and roll subculture, and all 19 rooms have their own funky theme. The Kraken’s Lair is the newest suite at Pelirocco, and includes an 8-foot, round bed and is decorated with bottles of Kraken rum.
Medieval Hotel, Dětenice, Czech Republic
The rooms at this hotel offer a new level of experiential tourism. The Medieval Hotel is a reconstructed 14th-century fortress complete with wooden doors, a stone trough to wash your hands and complementary lavish medieval breakfast.
Propeller Island Mobile Hotel, Berlin, Germany
No doubt the most unique hotel in this list, the Propeller Island Mobile Hotel is a complete experience. Each room is designed to blow your mind, including levitating beds, a room with walls made entirely of mirrors, and even an upside-down room (yes, the furniture is on the ceiling). You have to experience it to believe it.
Museum Hotel, Castel di Tusa, Italy
A stay at this hotel is like sleeping inside a Picasso painting. While they also offer standard rooms, who would pass up the chance to stay inside an art exhibit? Some of the most unique rooms are called The Mouth of Truth, Energy and Dreams between Signs.
