Reviews / Airline

Let me preface this by stating I am not a high-maintenance air travelers at all, but after I first glanced through the reviews of Air Mauritius, I was frantically looking for ways out of my flight from Johannesburg (JNB) to Mauritius (MRU) this past fall. It turns had I had little to worry about.

The plane was by no means fancy — it still had ashtrays throughout — but it wasn’t exactly uncomfortable, either. The flight attendants were a friendly bunch who made the flight a pleasant experience. Honestly, it’s best not to go in expecting much from a low-budget airline to begin with.

If you require fancy seating, lots of legroom and first-class entertainment I can say you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. However, if you’re satisfied with decent meals and are capable of entertaining yourself for a few hours while you get from A to B then it should work out for you just fine.

Booking the flight was simple and getting on the plane was one of the easier boarding experiences I’ve had while overseas, so no complaints there. The flight itself was pretty smooth, though my butt was sore by the end of it, but that’s pretty much par for the course in these days of money-first air travel.

I’d recommend it to a friend, but it probably wouldn’t be my first choice if I had more options.
