Whether you’re driving across town or across the country, there are some items you need to pack. Before you hit the open road, make sure your car is stocked with all of these products for a safe and enjoyable trip.
Safety
For unforeseen emergencies, pack a fully stocked first aid kit like this one. You should have a mechanic check your car before you depart, but keep jumper cables in your car as backup. Keep extra antibacterial wipes with you in case you encounter a questionable rest stop bathroom or any other unclean situations.
Entertainment
Keep some magazines and easy-to-play games for anyone not behind the wheel or to bring out at rest stops. Bring extra chargers for anyone who plans to use their devices for most of the drive.
Comfort
Bring a couple travel blankets and pillows for anyone in the backseat who needs a nap. Pack an extra pair of sunglasses so you don’t find yourself squinting during the drive.
Food
Pack a variety of snacks that will keep you full for long stretches. Clif bars and KIND bars are easy to throw in a bag and don’t need refrigeration. If you want to bring a small cooler, add some yogurt, sandwiches, fruit and vegetables to your stash. Don’t forget to pack utensils, plates, paper towels and trash bags.
