With several locations throughout Philadelphia, popular brunch spot Sabrina’s Café recently expanded into New Jersey in Collingswood. Initially discouraged by the crowds, I finally had brunch at the café on a recent Sunday morning.
Located in an old Woolworth’s, the space feels cozy despite the high ceilings and large windows. Shortly after we were seated at a table by the windows, our waitress came by to take our drink order. The restaurant is BYOB, and I opted for a cup of coffee.
In addition to the everyday brunch menu, Sabrina’s features a rotating themed specials menu. On the day I dined at the café, the theme was The X-Files. Specialty items included Unidentified Fluffy Omelet Special Egg White, Flying Saucer Special Pancakes and The Toast is Out There Special Stuffed French Toast. While this menu was tempting, I decided on a breakfast frittata packed with roasted vegetables. Roasted potatoes accompanied the ample egg dish and I chose rye as my toast selection. The portion was huge and I couldn’t clean my plate, though I tried!
Our waitress was accommodating, bringing us jam, ketchup, extra napkins and drink refills as requested. This, paired with the ambiance and tasty food, made for a lovely dining experience. While known for brunch, Sabrina’s is open for dinner as well. I’ve heard great things about their famous meatloaf, which I plan to try on my next visit.
