Stockholm-based Scandic Hotels is launching a third brand to join its portfolio of properties in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany and Poland. Named Scandic GO, the new brand will debut via five hotels to start.

Scandic GO will target more cost-conscious travelers by trimming amenities and getting back to the basics. Hotels under this brand will have no full-service restaurants, no gyms, no meeting facilities and smaller guestrooms, but will offer free entertainment. With a “playful, young and urban design,” the hotels will be simply designed yet splashed with energetic colors. Guests will be able to check-in, check-out and access their rooms via a mobile app, and can grab food and drinks to go from the casual dining area.

Younger generations of travelers tend to spend more time outside hotels, embarking upon excursions or daytrips and returning to the hotel only when it’s time to sleep. In response to this trend, Scandic’s new brand will work to cater to travelers who want to explore more but spend less on lodging.

The first five Scandic GO properties will be as follows: Scandic No. 53 in Stockholm, Scandic Upplandsgatan in Stockholm, Scandic Karl Johan in Oslo, Scandic Grensen in Oslo and Scandic Webers in Copenhagen.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.

Interior Upgrades Begin Rolling Out Across United Fleet

United Airlines is in the midst of a major initiative to modernize its fleet over the next several years. After first announcing the plan in 2021, planes fitted with United’s signature interior are finally beginning to appear across the airline’s narrowbody fleet of Boeing and Airbus planes. United flyers are sure to notice these enhancements from the moment they step on board: Each new or updated plane sports remodeled seats, seatback entertainment screens for everyone, Bluetooth connectivity and more, all adding up to a better experience on every journey.
