Getting quality sleep while traveling is not always an easy feat, especially when crossing multiple time zones. Modern technology blesses troubled sleepers with myriad mobile applications, one of which comes with a small pillow attachment device that not only tracks how you sleep, but also helps you drift to sleep and wake up gradually.
The Sleepace application can be downloaded on any Android or iPhone for free, but the Sleep Dot (the aforementioned pillow device) must be purchased separately. The app connects with the Sleep Dot using Bluetooth technology and begins tracking sleep patterns from the corner of your pillow.
With a weight of 0.6 ounces and dimensions of less than 1.3 inches, the circular Dot is easily packed into luggage and portable as you move from hotel to hotel. Over time, the app provides data to clue you into your sleep patterns such as your average length of sleep, depth of sleep and the app even has sleep aid music to lure you to sleep. When it is time to wake up, the app will play slightly more energetic music to restart your wake cycle and ensure you wake up peacefully.
The Sleep Dot can be purchased on Amazon.com for $39.99 and comes with a non-rechargeable battery that lasts for three to six months before replacement is necessary.
