Something out of this world is happening Jan. 23, 2016. The Space Center Houston will open the new international landmark, the Independence Plaza. This multilevel complex will feature a replica of the space shuttle mounted on top of the first shuttle carrier aircraft.
This educational space center highlights different aspects of space exploration, including the history of NASA and the impact space exploration has had on other parts of life here on Earth. The exhibits highlight advances in science, mathematics, engineering and technology with an emphasis on the NASA Johnson Space Center and the role it played in the shuttle’s development. Don’t forget to stop by the iconic Zero-G Diner for snacks, drinks and fun, space-themed souvenirs.
Purchase tickets online, for a $3 discount, or buy them in person for $23.95 per adult. Or, if you’re planning to visit other attractions nearby, purchase the Houston CityPASS and receive discounts to Downtown Aquarium, Houston Museum of Natural Science and Houston Zoo, as well as a 47 percent discount to the Space Center. Many school groups tour the Space Center so be sure to plan wisely to avoid crowded exhibits.
