There are boundless opportunities for students to see the world while studying overseas, but how many do you know can say they studied in Antarctica? How about being the first? Students on Ice wants to send you to the Arctic while you get your degree.
Their goal is “provide students from around the world with inspiring educational opportunities at the ends of the earth” while cultivating a love for the environment and the planet on which we live. While students are cramming for their finals they can take a break and hang with the manatees and penguins that love to swim around the icebergs. Don’t forget about the Northern Lights. They probably make for a great date night with your fellow adventurers.
The program is open to not only college students, but high school kids as well. Students will be given lectures along with hands-on research opportunities in programs dealing with environmental issues as well as marine biology, so it’s a great opportunity for students who love science and the great outdoors. Program lengths range from two weeks to a month and begin in Canada before making the trek north. Financial aid is also available for qualifying applicants.
